During the lessons, participants have the opportunity to develop their skills at their own level and pace, expand their tune repertoire, work on bowing and playing techniques, and enhance groove, rhythm, and ensemble playing. The schedule also includes lessons in singing and dancing. Beyond the planned sessions, there will be song and music gatherings with teachers and fellow participants, as well as time for individual practice, spontaneous playing sessions, dancing, and singing. You’ll also have the chance to explore various aspects of the instruments.
The course also features concerts, giving participants the chance to meet other professional folk musicians and hear them perform and share their stories in an intimate setting.
Lessons are taught by ear, both individually and in groups. We welcome beginners and amateurs as well as advanced nyckelharpa players and fiddlers. In addition to instruction on chromatic nyckelharpa and fiddle, this year we also offer individual lessons on silverbasharpa and kontrabasharpa.
Many previous participants have become some of Sweden’s most professional folk musicians. Both participants and teachers speak of the special atmosphere – the course is so much more than just learning tunes!
The 50th anniversary of the course will be celebrated and highlighted in many ways throughout the week. Follow “Låtkursen på Ekebyholm” on Facebook and Instagram for continuous updates from the course management.
