Conversation 3: On Cross-context Learning and Collaboration. What Can Activists and Movements Do?
This conversation is for the participants of the event and will be facilitated by Stella Fischer, Independent International Consultant and Facilitator who has worked in Sweden and internationally with and through nonviolence
The first two conversations will be facilitated by Elisabeth Olivius, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, Umeå University.
Why This Event?
In light of significant political changes both within Sweden and internationally, including Sweden’s NATO membership and its Defence Cooperation Agreement with the US, as well as the evolving domestic political landscape, the need for critical dialogue has become pressing. These developments are impacting activists and movements in Sweden, particularly those focused on nonviolence, peace, human rights, and climate justice.
This event brings together activists and scholars from the US, UK, and Sweden to discuss alternatives to militarisation, autocratisation, and fascism. Through dialogue and collaboration, we hope to foster greater understanding of how organizations and movements are resisting these forces in their respective countries, and inspire cross-border cooperation in the struggle for peace and democracy.
We welcome students, civil society groups, researchers, and the public to participate, either in person or online, in this important conversation. Together, we can build connections and strengthen efforts toward nonviolent action and global solidarity.
